Pigeons are fascinating creatures to observe and film. Pesky at times though, they are common in urban areas and can thus be well suited as an animal film object, since they are almost everywhere in the city, especially if you lure them with food. If you have an Insta360 One R/S Action Cam, you can easily capture footage of pigeons in several ways. In this blog post, I'll share my expericence filming a pigeon with my Insta360 One R/S Action Cam using the 4K Boost Lens.

Step 1: Choosing a location

The first step in filming pigeons was to choose a location. Pigeons can be found in parks, on rooftops, and in public squares. Look for an area where there are a lot of pigeons and where you can get close to them without disturbing them. It's essential to respect the birds and their environment, so try to find a spot where you can blend in with your surroundings.

In my case, I was fortunate to have a balcony and many flying around pigeons in the neighborhood. Of course, the pigeons do not come by themselves so that I used as a decoy my DIY Smart Bird Feeder, which might already know from one of my previous blog posts.

Step 2: Setting up my Insta360 One R/S Action Cam

Blessed with a perfect location on my balcony, I set up my insta360 ONE R/S action cam right next to my DIY smart bird feeder. In order to achieve the appropriate height and stability, I used a a tripod and the Insta360 selfie stick. The only unfixable problem with this location was unfortunately the lack of sunlight. This made it hard to create clear and bright footage.

Step 3: Start filming

Once I had set up my camera, it was time to start filming. In order not to disturb the pigeons, I connected a mobile device to the camera to control it remotely.
